TEACHERS PREPARE FOR WATER EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS

In partnership with the Maynilad Water Academy, PhilCap-Net organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) on the appropriate and creative use of Maynilad’s Water Education Modules for Kindergarten to Grade 12 pupils. The 23 July 2019 activity was hosted by the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD) and Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA), with support from the Philippine Water Partnership (PWP). Efforts are being made to incorporate the Water Modules in the curriculum of K-12 pupils, in coordination with the Department of Education.

Speakers from Maynilad Water Academy/Maynilad Water Services Inc., PAWD, BACIWA and PhilCap-Net shared their experiences, expertise and insights in providing potable water supply to major cities in the Philippines. More than fifty participants joined the training workshop and teaching demonstrations during the whole day activity to prepare for their actual teaching of the modules in their respective schools.

VALUE OF KNOWLEDGE-SHARING

Dr. Ma. Cecilia G. Soriano, President of PhilCap-Net, talked about PhilCap-Net’s mission in her closing message as she reminded the participants of the value of knowledge-sharing. She encouraged the participants to share with their students, colleagues and other stakeholders what they have learned during the whole day training in order to help attain Cap-Net’s objective of water education for all. She also talked about the activities of PhilCap-Net that are aligned with Sustainable Development Goal Nos. 6, 14 and 17.
